When Matt met Samantha
That day changed everything
The day we met
25 Sept 2019
We met on a dating app and after a couple of days texting back and forth we couldn’t wait to finally meet in person. Sam’s dad’s dating advice was always to meet for a coffee. He said, “if you don’t like the guy after a half an hour, say it was nice to meet you and move on”. So, taking his advice, we decided to meet at Mountain Bean on Henderson. Matt rushed there after work and of course there was nowhere to sit. The place was packed! We made our way to Starbucks on Main street and chatted until the place closed down. Simple first date, but also our last first date.
The next two dates
We couldn’t wait to see each other again so a couple of days later we went to do archery. Well the competitive nature took over and we had to bet on who would get the closest shot. I lost. I tried so hard, my arm was left bruised but I didn’t really care because I couldn’t wait to see him again.
Our next date, we went to the golf dome and again we placed bets on hitting specific targets. This time, I won! It was official, we had met our match! I had to beat him at everything, or at least try to!
How he proposed
12 Feb 2021
The day Matt proposed we drove up to the lake to spend the weekend like we always do. We would rush up there right after to work, Matt would light the woodstove, and we’d have wine and usually some kind of charcuterie. I was sitting on the couch and out of nowhere Matt asked me if I wanted my Valentine’s gift. Well…if you know me, you know I would always say yes! So he gave me a card with a long beautiful message written inside. As I was reading it I could see out of the corner of my eye that he was pacing back and forth. This made me read slower because I don’t think I had ever seen him pace before. As I continued to read slowly, he knelt down next to me on one knee. I was still unaware of what was happening. After I finished reading the card, he said more amazing things to me and reached into his pocket and pulled out a box. I don’t think he even opened it, and I said YES and cried my eyes out!
Our dream wedding
Our beautiful family is now complete with the birth of Anders. Since the day we met we talked about what we wanted to do for a wedding and we both decided that our dream wedding would be on a beach with the bluest water and the whitest sand. We can not wait to celebrate our lives together by tying the knot on March 26, 2024!
It’s time to celebrate!
When we dreamt of getting married on the beach we envisioned this day to be surrounded by our family and close friends. By receiving this invitation please know that we would love for you to attend our wedding but we also fully understand that travelling to a destination wedding is not manageable for all.
